COLTS BEAT BALTIMORE IN AFC WILDCARD

It wasn't too many years ago that this headline would have raised a few eyebrows, not as a measure of how well either team was playing, but because "Baltimore" and "Colts" was synonymous.  Obviously today we have the Baltimore Ravens and the Indianapolis Colts, and Sunday the two franchises play in the AFC Wildcard.  Driving in this morning I was wondering who claims those early successes of the Baltimore Colts?  If memory serves, according to the NFL and the record books, the Colts franchise does.   However, if you're from the city of Baltimore, a died-in-the-wool Baltimore sports fan, don't those victories belong to your city?  Ah, but I digress...

Who do I think is going to win this Sunday?  In my mind, it will come down to whoever wins the turnover battle, i.e., whoever has the most Luck.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS INSPIRED ARMCHAIR QB GEAR

The Indianapolis Colts are a very respectable 5-3. Who would have thunk it?  Obviously nobody expected ANYTHING from the Colts this year, not without Peyton Manning and certainly not without head coach Chuck Pagano.  Well, not sure the head coach really factored into the assessment on what was essentially Peyton's team, but we're obligated to mention Coach Pagano considering all that he's going through...  Nobody expected Andrew Luck to be very good to start his career, especially with the cast of characters surrounding him.

No one in Indiana, and next to nobody in Indianapolis would have foreseen Andrew Luck being named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

All you Colts fans out there, gear up for the second half of the season by purchasing some fine Indianapolis Armchair Quarterback gear.  You'll be happy you did.

PHINS, BROWNS AND COLTS ROUND OUT THE THIRTY-TWO

The Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and Indianapolis Colts are the NFL bottom feeders, at least according to ESPN's Power Ranking heading into Week 2.

No mystery or intrigue there, but it will be interesting to see how Andrew Luck and the Colts rebuild over the next couple of years.

PS: Today is Andrew Luck's birthday, so if you see him, show him some love.

THE IDIOCIES OF JIM IRSAY

The tweets of Indianapolis Owner Jim Irsay have been incredibly infuriating, inexplicably infantile, and astonishingly amusing, all depending on your perspective.  If you have the proverbial 'dog in the hunt' and find yourself dissecting every tweet, speculating on what his cryptic messages might mean for your team, it can be frustrating.  If you're an innocent observer, the ability of Irsay to get the masses all spun up can be mildly entertaining.

Mike Freeman of CBSSports is reporting that several team executives have indicated that they do not find Irsay humorous or cute on Twitter, and have gone so far as to say that he can actually hurt the Colts by leaking news of impending trades while negotiations are still in progress.  They've even speculated that teams could (and actually may have) avoided dealing with the Colts out of fear that their negotiations would be made public on Irsay's twitter feed.

Is Jim Irsay simply having fun on Twitter, or is "IRSAY" becomming the new word for "IDIOCY"?

Nobody can be completely sure, and it's anybody's guess what device Mr. Irsay prefers for his infamous tweets.  However, one thing to be sure of is that this iPhone 3G Hard Case emblazoned with the INDIANAPOLIS Armchair Quarterback logo, will make anyone look smart.

PEYTON AND DENVER OFFICIALLY SCREWED

Yup, it's official.  The Denver Broncos and quarterback Peyton (rhymns with 'Satan') are officially screwed, just ask Pat Roberston.  He was 'round when Denver released the Tebow, and sealed their fate...
“I think the Denver Broncos treated him shabbily. He won seven games. He brought them into the playoffs, for heaven sakes. I mean, they were a nothing team. He rallied them together with spectacular last-minute passes and, you know, when they beat Buffalo — I mean, Pittsburgh — it was a tremendous victory.”
Buffalo? Was he thinking Denver Colorado and was subconciously thinking about the University of Colorado in Boulder, i.e., the Buffaloes?  Surely the senile old coot didn't mean the Bills, did he?
“And you just ask yourself, OK, Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he’s been injured. If that injury comes back, Denver will find itself without a quarterback — and in my opinion, it would serve them right.”
Nothing outrageous yet, until he blathered on and let loose this gem.
"Manning deserves to get hurt after the Tim Tebow trade"
Damn.  I'm hoping, or in this case praying, that at the very least Manning's feelings get hurt.  Something that will fulfill the prophecy of this great sage of the 21st Century. Pat, holy shit dude, you're the best.

PS:  If God's wrath doesn't take down Peyton, maybe the fashion police will rough him up for that horrific suit-tie combination.
