WHY STEELERS (NOT RAVENS) WIN THE AFC NORTH
The final four weeks of the 2012 NFL season are upon us, and the division of greatest interest to the Pittsburgh Armchair Quarterback is the AFC North. Conventional wisdom and the talking heads tell us that the division title will most likely be won by the Baltimore Ravens, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals scratching and clawing for a wildcard birth. The hell with that.
For the Black and Gold, getting into the playoffs will be decided in the game against the Bengals on the the 40th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception, in Pittsburgh, on December 23rd. Karma aside, If the Steelers win that game and two of the three others, the Steelers are in. That's going to be a war, one that we might wish Franco's Italian Army was here to wage, but a winnable war nonetheless. If we lose that battle, the road to the playoffs is going to be much tougher and requiring a little help from our 'friends'. In other words, I don't think we would be controlling our destiny at that point.
Wait. Give yourself a cold hard slap to the face. That's loser talk, and we're not willing to concede the division. What about winning the thing outright? That my friends is a distinct possibility. The Ravens' remaining schedule is a beast, to say the least. They've got the Redskins, Broncos, Giants and Bengals. Given the strength of that schedule, It is certainly conceivable that they could lose three of those four. In contrast, if the Steelers win their remaining games, they clinch the division. Pure and simple.
The Ravens losing Terrell Suggs for a couple of games could be real tough for Baltimore to overcome. This is especially true since they are facing a red hot RG III next Sunday in Landover, MD and the Manning brothers in back-to-back games, all before wrapping things up against Cincinnati in the season finale.
The Steelers just need to get healthy and stay focused (especially Mike Wallace).
They do that, and they will win the AFC North.

HERE IS HOPING ROETHLISBERGER FAKED INJURY
It is a Wednesday morning, yet Monday morning quarterbacks and armchair quarterbacks, particularly Pittsburgh Armchair Quarterbacks, are wondering whether Ben Roethlisberger will be lining up under center this weekend, or anytime soon.
Conventional wisdom tells you not only no, but Hell no, especially when considering coach Mike Tomlin's assessment of the situation. It seems that the Steelers' signal caller is legitimately done for the next several weeks at a minimum, or is he? I've looked at the replay a hundred times, several more times in super slow-motion. Now I'm no expert, but it doesn't look too bad, at least not to me. It is nowhere near as blatant or painful looking as that Turkey Jones' sack of Terry Bradshaw back in the day. That infamous sack from 1976 wrecked what was arguably the Steelers' finest season. This sack has the potential of doing the same, considering that many pundits were considering this to be Big Ben's best season, and many were calling this an MVP season for number 7.
Be that as it may, there is a rumor starting to rise out of the 'Burgh that Ben faked the severity of his injury, and that he isn't quite as incapacitated as he or the Steelers' organization will lead us to believe.
One theory is that Ben, the consummate competitor, is merely playing a mid-season game of one-upmanship with Emmanual Sanders. Showing his WR how to execute the fine art of faking an injury. If you recall, this past Friday the NFL announced that it was fining Sanders $15,000 and the Steelers another $35,000 for Sanders taking a flop in the October 21 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The other theory is that Ben was looking at a way to guarantee that he would be by his wife's side whenever she gives birth to baby Ben. In case you hadn't heard, the Roethlisberger's are expecting their first child in the next couple weeks.
Let's hope it doesn't turn out to be a Thanksgiving turkey.

BLOG FAILURE TURNS TO HAWKING HIS WARES
My attempts at spouting off about sports and stuff has been an abject failure. So, at least for the foreseeable future, I plan on hawking my Zazzle and CafePress wares here instead. Basically focusing on the "...Stuff". I'm also changing the Look and Feel of this blog a bit in order to shake things up..
Today I'm posting a Pittsburgh Armchair Quarterback plate. This is perfect for tailgating at Heinz Field. Not going to the game? No problem, throw out that Pottery Barn crap and grace your table with a whole set of these fine dishes.

Terrell Owens to the Bengals?
The Super Bowl
awaits us this Sunday, but we are also reminded of the potential for an imminent work stoppage looming on the horizon. Thankfully the antics of Ochocinco, and his proclamation that Terrell Owens will be a Bengal next year, brought a little humor into this conversation and brightened up an otherwise unremarkable football Friday.
I am a fan of the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers (I can still say that until Sunday night, right?), and actually would like nothing more than to see Terrell Owens
teamed up with the player formerly known as Chad Johnson. It makes sense that the Bengals would do this in order to fill the vacancy created by the departure of the human formerly known as Chris Henry
.
Let me explain. Owens has done an admirable job towing the line in Buffalo, but playing there is roughly analogous to being banished to Siberia
. So even if he were acting up, chances are those stories would have never seen the light of day anyway. I thoroughly believe that should he find himself in Cincinnati sharing center stage with Ochocinco, we could all sit back, grab our popcorn, and enjoy the circus.
