In case you haven't heard, Peyton Manning has bought a shit load (21 to be exact) of Papa John's franchises. Good move. He'll obviously need the revenue they are expected to generate after he retires from the Denver Broncos. After all, John Elway has the automobile market cornered with God knows how many car dealerships in the greater Denver area. Anyway, Peyton's timing couldn't have been better following the legalization of that wacky weed out west.
I've been thinking about the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, and curious how this might impact beer sales in general, and sales of Coors in particular. Equally perplexing is what will become of the beer commercials in the Mile High City on game days. My guess is that commercials proclaiming "THIS BUDS FOR YOU" will now have a completely different connotation. Could be that beer ads get replaced altogether, and we'll soon be watching pot ads instead. Curious whether the marijuana marketeers (not sure there is a need for such an animal since the plant seemingly sells itself) introduce the concept of GAME DAZE? They of course will need to find the right pitch man. Cheech, Chong or Charlie Sheen perhaps? Forget about sequestration and the fiscal cliff, we are on the precipice of paradigm shift in advertising boys and girls. Instead of the endless stream of car commercials, Denver Armchair Quarterbacks are going to be fed a steady stream of Cheetos, Fritos, and Doritos ads. Mark it down. Clearly fans are going to get inundated with Papa Peyton Pizza advertisements as well.
