PRESEASON: MR GOODELL JUST DOESN'T GET IT

Greg Rosenthal from NFL.com wrote a short article on a speech Commissioner Roger Goodell gave at Harvard University on Thursday.  The subject was player health and safety, but he said something pretty disturbing, especially when considering that it was uttered by no less of an authority than the commissioner of the National Football League.

In reference to the preseason, Goodell made the following remark;

"It just does not meet the standard of quality that the NFL is all about"

Earth to Roger, the preseason was never intended to meet any quality standards for entertainment, or to be used as some kind of marketable commodity.  Please, for the good of the game, pull your bloated head out of your ass and acknowledge this fundamental truth.  We the people don't have access to Goodell's travel itinerary for the last week, but did he make an unpublicized trip to America's Marijuana Mecca, i.e., Colorado?  Is he simply daft? Anyone with any familiarization with the sacred game of football knows that preseason games are simply scrimmages at the professional level.  They provide coaches with a more realistic environment in which to evaluate their players, making the necessary cuts to get down to the requisite fifty-three (53).  Nothing more, nothing less.  It's a fact, Jack, that some coaches (and Professional Armchair Quarterbacks) couldn't care less if they didn't keep score, but in the name of realism, they do.

Roger-G claimed that his priority is the health and well being of the players and future of the game.  By the sounds of things, he has plans on making the preseason count for something, so that he can somehow increase his financial bottom line.

His concern for the future of the game has nothing to do with the integrity of the sport, but it's economic state.  He'll water down or outright kill the game as we know it in the name of the almighty dollar, pound, yen, or dinar.

GIANTS BEST JETS IN SCRIMMAGE SATURDAY NIGHT

The New York Football Giants...  Correction, the World Champion New York Giants, the ones that have piled up the wins as the other New York NFL team racked up the headlines, looked the part last night in their 26-3 'win' (if anybody truly wins or loses a preseason game) against the New York J-E-T-S.

The media coverage out of NYC this summer has been dominated by Tim "Lord and Saviour" Tebow, his competition with Mark Sanchez, and those training camp fights.

If you're a fan of the NEW YORK 2011 WORLD CHAMPIONS, you'll want to flaunt your team's dominance over that other New York based NFL team buy purchasing one of these great (and original) shirts.  T-shirts aren't really your thing?  No sweat, the design is featured on a variety of other products.
