The St Louis Cardinals shocked the Nats, Washington DC, and the baseball world with their awe inspiring come-from-behind triumph last night!
What can you say except, GO GO CARDINALS! Talk about a rally. They were already behind 3-0 before getting their first out, were losing 6-0 in the third inning, and were behind 7-5 with two outs and one hanging on in the ninth. Then it happened. Somehow the Cardinals pulled out the largest comeback ever in a winner-take-all postseason game!
Actually, purists of the game (is there a baseball equivalent of football's "Armchair Quarterback"?) know precisely what the hell happened. It wasn't luck, wasn't masterful pitching or intervention by the baseball Gods (again, does football have and pray to Gods the way football has 'Football Gods"?). It wasn't some curse. No, the victory was ultimatley secured by a grey medium-sized rodent called the Sciuridae. In a word (okay, two words), the historic victory was secured by the RALLY SQUIRREL!
